Good day to all!! In our last newsletter we discussed the My Favorite Charity Events’ (MFCE) Mathematics Tutoring Program.
Well, we want to discuss this a little more because we feel it is such an important and critical issue facing families and their children today.
Right now, we are tutoring 6 children with there being many more that we could be tutoring, but we can’t support because we do not have the staff. When we look at these children we see our own kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
We believe you would as well, but what we see more are children that need encouragement and tools to reduce learning frustration, improve their self-esteem, make learning fun, and help them become superstar students.
Right now, we have a tutoring staff of 6 tutors (ODU Interns and volunteers) supporting 3, 1-hour weekly sessions. Some of the staff support us all 3 days while other volunteers 1 day, or intermittently. Our tutoring is from 3:30 – 4:30 Tuesday – Thursday, and we need volunteers to be able to support more children.
If these times/days are not good for you, please pass this email on to friends and family that might be interested in tutoring or consider donating securely at https://myfavoritecharityevents.org to help us expand our Internship Program. These children are the first to ever miss significant in-class learning (due to Covid) and need our help to catch up.
The 2022/2023 Standards of Learning (SOL) scores showed in Math, two thirds of all 3rd through 8th graders (327,598 students) are at risk or failed the SOL Assessment. Governor Youngkin’s All-In-Tutoring Program was enacted to help accelerate learning, and MFCE’s Tutoring Program meets or exceeds the requirements of All-In Tutoring.
We know there are many charities asking for volunteers or donations, but here is what one of our followers said about our efforts, “Bob Valli Wonderful! This is what I call real charity! Helping children early is the key to their future success.I appreciate your efforts!”.
Help us help these children achieve grade-level mathematics standards and improve their SOL assessment scores – we can’t afford to let these children get left behind.
