Volunteers, YOU! are the backbone My Favorite Charity Events (MFCE)…

We are well on our way to building a network of volunteers that are willing to provide educational expertise and creative abilities to support the wellbeing of elementary school-aged children who need assistance with Math skills, aiming to improve Standards of Learning (SOL) scores in the mathematics subject area while meeting MFCE’s goal of not leaving any child behind. We embrace the advice of experts on the subjects of Elementary Education, Human Services, Social Services, social media, planners, and event workers. If you cannot volunteer, please consider donating to our organization to fund our goals for tutoring struggling elementary school students, including during summer school break to assist them in maintaining or improving grade statuses.

Don’t forget the 2023 Christmas for Kids campaign! Christmas is just around the corner, and we depend on you to volunteer or donate to young children and their families, and to keep Christmas gifts flowing to those who need them to celebrate the Holiday as you and I do.

We are always taking early donations of school supplies, and slightly used or new children’s clothing (all sizes).

Would like to volunteer? Visit our VolunteerMatch page or fill out the Volunteer Application and email it to mfce@myfavoritecharityevents.org

Thank you for considering volunteering for our charity. We appreciate all the help we can get, as we work together to be effective in the lives of young children in a positive way.

Volunteer in Other Ways

Mr. TurnerMr. Turner has worked as an educator for over a decade, first as a full-time Kaplan tutor before shifting into the public-school setting. Mr. Turner originally provided New York City public schools with SAT and ACT tutoring programs on behalf of Kaplan test prep. Since moving to Virginia Beach with his wife and daughter in 2015, Mr. Turner has taught, tutored, and coached students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. He has provided Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy to students with autism ranging in ages from 3-16. As a special education teacher with Norfolk Public Schools, he taught a group of 3rd and 4th grade students with Emotional Disabilities. Through the coordinated support of families, co-teachers, and supportive administration, his team of students (dubbed the “SuperDolphins”) achieved a collective SOL pass rate of over 80 percent. Mr. Turner currently works as a Special Education teacher at Green Run High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and believes strongly that relationship-building and play-based learning are the foundations of academic recovery and long-term success.
