The My Favorite Charity Events free mathematics in-school tutoring program is off and running and with that, we thought we would share with you how the program benefits (wins) the entire school system and especially the elementary school child and family.

As a charity like any business, you want to have wins to show growth and progress. For My Favorite Charity Events (MFCE) a “win” is when we have helped create a positive difference for elementary school children, their family, and/or the school organization. So here is our “win list” starting with the most important piece – the elementary school children.

  1. Elementary School student – receives free mathematics tutoring addressing weaknesses in critical grade-level mathematical fundamentals and to improve Standards of Learning Assessment scores. Receives Christmas gifts that they ask for from Santa rather than a generic gift(s).
  2. Elementary School student’s parents: their child receives free tutoring and receive progress updates. Families are relieved of the stress of buying gifts with limited monetary resources and the entire family has a merry Christmas.
  3. Elementary School: Receives focused free tutoring support for those children identified as struggling in math. Coordinating with the student’s teacher and math specialist ensures the tutoring addresses weaknesses in critical grade-level mathematical fundamentals.
  4. Elementary School Math Specialist and Teacher – provides additional support with students struggling with mat fundamentals that aligns with the daily class work and builds on that instruction.
  5. Virginia Beach City Public School System (VBCPS): MFCE tutoring program creates a collegiate tutor pipeline of potential teachers into the VBCPS system. Meets the tutoring requirements of Gov. Younkins “high dosage tutoring program” of 30 minutes at least 3 days a week – MFCE provides 1 hour three times a week.

MFCE Improves the lives of elementary school children academically through our free mathematics tutoring program, and benevolently through our Christmas for Kids program. MFCE aims to create impactful and lasting experiences for positive cognitive development in children. So many wins at so many levels all with one focus – improve the lives of elementary school children. Help us continue these worthy programs by donating any amount today.
